Last Saturday, I decided with my friend, Penda of Oh Penda to go to the opening of Mercato De Oro.
My purpose was to meet the president of an organization I wanted to be a part of. But things turned out differently (in a good way though). Not only did I get to meet the president of the org, but I also got to tour around CDO’s new food and lifestyle market – Mercato De Oro.
Mercato Centrale, Manila’s premier night food market has finally made it’s way here at the City Of Golden Friendship. It has officially opened last Saturday (December 7, 2013) located at Ayala Mall’s Centrio, Cagayan de Oro. The night market will be open every Friday and Saturday at 4pm to 3am and the morning market will be open every Saturday at 7am to 2pm.
Mercato De Oro is managed by the Mercato Centrale group, which also has other successful food markets in key Ayala Malls around Metro Manila which include Midnight Mercato in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Mezza Norte in Trinoma Mall, Quezon City and Cucina Andare (the first food truck market in the country) in Glorietta Mall, Makati.
Mercato de Oro is where home-grown entrepreneurs of Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Iligan, Ozamis, Pagadian, and the other neighboring provinces can share their local and specialty dishes, fresh and organic fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood and even locally-made arts, crafts and collectibles.

Before we toured around, Danoy Mejia made us try the new creation of Mercedes Breads, the Pineapple Crumble. He prepared two pies, one hot and one cold. Some of us preferred the freshly baked hot pie and some preferred it cold. I was with these awesome people from CDO Bloggers 🙂

There are a lot of yummy desserts being sold too! Monicakes, Heavenly Goodies and Dessert Strip are some of the must-tries.
During the stop at Dessert Strip, Chef Hasset Go made us try their new sweet treats! And each one is a must try!
