High On Denim

Last month, I along with other bloggers were invited to speak at the University of San Carlos for their first ever Blog Con 2016. Upon hearing the news, the first question that popped in my mind was, “What am I to wear?”. I’ve always wanted to try the double denim trend however I was afraid that I might not be able to pull it off.

Double denim has always been a big no no to the fashion world because of the fashion disaster Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake committed during the 2001 American Music Awards.

However, this “don’t do” has now become a recent trend because people found out that once you style your denims correctly, it can look really good! Now here’s my take on the double denim trend plus some tips on how to style your future double denim look.

What I’m Wearing: Denim Button-Down (H&M), Distressed Denims (Bershka), Sunglasses (EyeBuyDirect), Stan Smiths (Adidas Originals), and Watch (Nixon)

Tip #1: Go for different shades.

If you go with the same shade for both your top and jeans, you’d look too matchy and it might look tacky. However if you really want to go with the same type of wash then it’s up to you. I suggest you add a neutral colored shirt such as white or go for distressed jeans/shorts to not make it too matchy.

Tip #2: Go for tattered.

Grunge up your double denim look by adding ripped or tattered jeans or shorts.

Tip #3: Add accessories.

Choose the right accessories such a good pair of sunnies plus a gold watch and you’re good to go!

Sunglasses are the best summer accessories because they don’t only protect your eyes from the beaming rays of the sun but also they can compliment your look. Personally, I am choosy with the sunnies I buy but this specific pair from EyeBuyDirect is my current favorite.

Tip #4: You can never go wrong with white.

What I love about white sneakers is that you can pair them with anything most especially with this denim combo.

Furthermore, I would like to extend my gratitude to the people behind the USC Blog Con 2016 for inviting me and congratulate them on a successful event! I also hope you guys learned something from this entry and also if you have any styling tips or insights please do not hesitate to comment below! 🙂

On other news, I am excited to going back to Cebu this weekend for the second Pop District Bazaar this 15-16 April 2016!
